Today I took part in a ‘Timely Diagnosis of Dementia’ meeting jointly hosted by NHS England and the BMA.

The meeting brought together people who are living with dementia, past and present carers, clinicians and policy makers to debate the key issues around diagnosis and support for people with dementia.

Myself, along with past and present carers, contributed our experience emphasising that support is essential and that good outcomes for the whole family, in addition to those of the person with dementia, should be taken into consideration.

I will be attending a further smaller meeting on this topic in July 2013, and it is anticipated that this larger group will meet again in the future.
