@IRememberBetter @creativitycare @nursesKidONE @AlzJoyThruTears @bethyb1886 @UnicornSpark @MyCareMatters @artsaging @THEVDOVault @helenfindlay @wecaredesign #AlzChat Dementia challenges us to understand & empathise with the experiences of those affected. It reminds us to be compassionate & supportive, aiding a deeper connection with those who are navigating this condition. Empathy & compassion provides the best care/support for PLWD.

Many families talk about the need for awareness & advocacy. Dementia raises awareness about the condition & the need for better support systems. It encourages us to advocate for improved care & resources for PLWD. Additionally, gov policy improvements are vital.
'To live in the moment' This is one of the most frequent answers we hear to 'what has dementia taught you?' @bethyb1886 and @piponthecommons both embraced this wisdom. They really 'take notice' of their lives, of moments.. being fully present. #AlzChat https://d4dementia.com/2022/03/live-in-the-moment.html

Dementia often brings unexpected changes. It teaches us to be flexible and adapt to new situations, finding creative solutions to challenges. I call it "The Power of Adaptability".

D4Dementia is back! Read my wrap of 2024 here: https://d4dementia.com/2024/12/a-d4dementia-wrap-of-2024.html
If you've been part of my year of work, or just curious about what I've been up to (that's kept me so busy I haven't had time to blog!) then do have a read.
Wishing you and yours a gentle, kind year ahead.
A late share of my involvement in the @PainChek roundtable held earlier this month. Great to be alongside Chris Norris and colleagues working in #socialcare to explore maintaining independence for people living with #dementia.
