There loads of evidence that it is good for us to go outside yet its not always used to support our health & care. That's why our research focused on the 'Why' we don't go into the garden? Our books share our findings & so much more for #care, #dementia and #gardendesign sectors
People can and do live on their own with #dementia and without informal support.
A series of new resources offers advice to enable this, including guidance for people living with dementia, commissioners and people working with people with dementia: https://livingalonewithdementia.co.uk/our-resources
Just a week to go 'til our new book comes out! @Innov_Dementia

Well I Know Now, the #podcast in which I talk to people affected by #dementia in various ways is back 🌟TOMORROW 🌟for 2 very special episodes with 2 very special people 😊
@bethyb1886 @creativitycare Great to see you 💜
#AlzChat Eating remained one of Trevor's pleasures till v late into his dementia. Loved variety & had to have pud! Lost ability to feed himself relatively early with loss of vision & spatial awareness but preferred being fed with complex foods to coping alone with simple foods.
#AlzChat soon winding down for today. Thanks to all for joining / listening in. See you next Monday 3pm/8pmUK @creativitycare
Loving all the meal images by @Dementiawho ... always looks delicious and nutritious #AlzChat
@bethyb1886 @Care_SweetPea Great initiative #AlzChat
@bethyb1886 @creativitycare Great mealtime tips #AlzChat
2/2 Tips I often talk about are having ‘grazing’ food rather than a strict 3 meals a day, trying different flavours (stronger ones, curry worked for my dad!), supporting the person to get involved with food prep & finding variety/healthy options if sweet foods preferred #AlzChat
I talk about eating/drinking etc so much in training & mentoring with health & social care staff supporting ppl with dementia. Privileged to help families with this too, most recently in a webinar for @Care_SweetPea #AlzChat 1/2

Hope you enjoy it Beth 💜
@bethyb1886 @soniasodha I've thought about this on and off for ten years.
It's impossible if you go to one end or the other.
But I think people gravitate towards talking about two separate populations.
This partly reflects the ambiguity and uncertainty in the diagnosis in early stages.
@bethyb1886 🐣💛🐣💛🐣💛🐣
@bethyb1886 @soniasodha you did Beth x
A rather late #HappyEaster from me! My son was very keen to get his chocolate from the Easter Bunny 🐰!! My daughter went for the easier targets!! 🐣🐥
“For me, the ad is too blunt & too bleak to achieve its objective of increasing public awareness: people need to be told the truth but also to be offered a little hope to avoid increasing a sense of fatalism.” @soniasodha
As I’ve been saying, #balance https://d4dementia.com/2023/10/the-dementia-film-debate.html
@bethyb1886 pleasure Beth

@bethyb1886 @alzheimerssoc @DementiaUK I found it emotional, bt find the narrative of dying multiple times difficult. I think there can be grief experienced of who they might have been, things they might have done & enjoyed & no longer do, plans for a future which seems to have changed. Bt this isn’t death.
How ironic, when I've been thinking so much about dad's actual death the past few days, that this memory from Facebook should pop up in my email today. Reading the comments it all floods back & my heart breaks💔the final illness that he couldn't overcome. A month later, he died.
@bethyb1886 @alzheimerssoc @DementiaUK The carers are telling me that these are the words they use at funerals. They feel heard. Your dad had a lovely resilient person in you. Sometimes people are less so, and they feel as if the person died. It’s a metaphor 🤔🙃
@bethyb1886 @taylorswift13 👌
@bethyb1886 @PoppyLegion @DementiaUK Yes @bethyb1886 it is essential support.
