I’ve been privileged to work with MacIntyre to support their Dementia Special Interest Groups (DSIGs) since October 2013. I think I’ve now attend 30+ of these inspiring and informative meetings (here is an example from 2015), which in recent years I’ve co-hosted with Nicola Payne, MacIntyre’s Best Practice Manager for Health and Families.
The DSIG’s were once in-person and only for MacIntyre staff, but since COVID they have moved online and become open-access to all. What hasn’t changed, though, is the fantastic guests (which mostly always includes a person living with dementia) and educational content, and this latest meeting was no exception. We welcomed George Rook back to the DSIG to talk about his life with dementia, and collaborated with Dementia UK’s Justine Tomlinson and MacIntyre’s PBS and Complex Support Manager Sarah Kilby to address the topic of Understanding Behavioural Changes due to Dementia.
We had a great attendance for this Dementia Special Interest Group, so many thanks to everyone who joined us.
Thank you too @bethyb1886 @george_rook @NicolaP321 @SarahKilby11 @JptomoTomlinson @MWilding5 for a fantastic Dementia Special Interest Group yesterday morning! Lots of brilliant learning to better outcomes for people living with #Dementia #LearningDisability đź’ś https://t.co/oTmPb77RBk
